Abstract
Nutraceuticals have proven beyond reasonable doubt their potency and efficacy. Their success depends on quality and safety maintenance. However, there remains a need for long-term safety data with the lowest risk-benefit ratio and the best cost-effectiveness for wider population coverage. As efforts are made to avoid toxicity, the ultimate choice involves a paradigm shift towards nutraceuticals to improve long-term compliance in the dietary management of hypertension.
