Abstract

Advancement in renal biochemistry has significantly enhanced our comprehension of kidney function and pathology. This chapter reviews recent breakthroughs in renal biochemistry; renal filtration, reabsorption, secretion, and excretion, along with the regulatory systems that uphold homeostasis. The chapter analyzes current studies on renal metabolism and transport systems, emphasizing how these advancements have improved our understanding of kidney diseases. It also examines advancements in imaging techniques that aid our ability to detect and monitor kidney diseases with enhanced precision. New kidney function biomarkers are discussed, highlighting their significance in early detection and enhanced prognostic capacities. The chapter encompasses advancements in therapeutic strategies, including novel pharmaceutical interventions, lifestyle alterations, and cutting-edge dialysis techniques.
