Abstract
Nanomedicine involves the use of nanomaterials in the prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, or treatment of diseases. Nanomedicine utilizes the unique properties of nanomaterials to tailor therapies at the molecular level. Compared to conventional medicine use with a rich history and record, nanomedicine is an emerging field. It is a rapidly evolving and highly dynamic scientific field with great potential. Precision medicine is also an emerging field which aims to tailor patient care using their individual genetic profile, lifestyle, and environment to achieve optimal outcomes. Precision medicine appears to be the desired future destination of medical care and nanomedicine seems to be the right vehicle to drive this field.
