Abstract

Biological lipids, including serum lipids and lipid mediators, play several bodily roles. They regulate the physiological functions of the genitourinary system and are implicated in several genitourinary disorders through various pathophysiological pathways. The development of accurate diagnostic approaches and effective therapeutic interventions is based on the knowledge and proper understanding of these physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms. Therefore further research into the mechanistic role of lipids is expected to yield novel therapeutic targets that will facilitate the development of new agents for managing genitourinary disorders and minimize the associated adverse outcomes.
