Household biomass fuel use, blood pressure and carotid intima media thickness; a cross sectional study of rural dwelling women in Southern Nigeria

Abstract

Domestic exposure to biomass smoke is associated with an increase in systolic blood pressure, pre-hypertension and increase in carotid intima media thickness of rural women in Southern Nigeria. More research is needed in this area to further evaluate this association.
