EFFECTS OF POLYPHENOLS ON HYPERTENSION

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This piece reviewed the biochemistry of polyphenols and its implications in hypertension. A working model or conceptual framework is duly suggested. Discussions were focused on advances and/or challenges for future research. It was well noted that the biological effects of polyphenols go beyond the modulation of oxidative stress. Their potency and efficacy as well depended on the amount of polyphenols consumed and bioavailability.
